G5RV Maple Leaf Mini / Limited Space / Rated 1.5 KW

-- LIMITED SPACE ANTENNA --. NOTE You will need a wide range external tuner to tune the Mini to 80 meters.

Is our latest antenna design developed to meet the needs of amateurs. And experimenters who have limited space to install an antenna.

It is small enough to be easily hidden from view. With the recent improvements in antenna tuners it provides a very good solution to many installation problems.

If you are limited on space to hang an antenna, but still want to use all of the HF bands then this antenna is an excellent choice for you. This antenna is 46 ft. It can be used on any ham band from 80 through 10 meters, including the W.

Bands of 12, 17, and 30 meters. NOTE You will probably need an external tuner. The tuner built into your radio will probably not have adequate tuning range to tune all of the bands covered by this antenna! Was developed, prototyped, and tested at the Maple Leaf Studio Facility in direct response to customer requests and needs.

Using a tuner, it can be operated on all bands from 80 to 10 meters with low VSWR (NOTE typically under 1.3 to 1). The small size means that it can easily be used in an attic installation. It can be installed in many configurations.

Example: horizontal, inverted Vee, sloping, etc. The light weight and low visibility permits it to be easily reoriented to meet propagation openings.

Great for portable operations or back packing ----- Total weight of the. Is 1 pound and 5 ounces.

-- It is very portable! This antenna is especially attractive to CW, QRP and PSK-31 enthusiasts who often use these modes as their only way to operate due to antenna or location restrictions. It is also an excellent portable antenna for vacation, back packing, or Field Day use, etc. I have done extensive testing on this antenna design and I must say that. Its performance is surprising, given its small size.

My testing was done with the. In an inverted vee configuration. The apex of the antenna was at only 14 ft. The ends were at 6 ft.

I was using 50 ft. Of RG8X coax from the radio to the end of the antennas matching section. On every band that was open I was able to make good solid contacts. I talked to a ham in El Dorado, Arkansas.

(distance of about 300 miles) for about 45 minutes. We were using SSB and he was S7 on my receiver. He gave me a 5 X 9 signal report. I was running 50 watts on my Kenwood TS130SE radio, and an MFJ model 948 antenna tuner. I worked a KC10 military aircraft flying over New Jersey (over 1000 miles).

He was S8 and he gave me a 5X7 signal report with Q5 copy. On 20 meters I was able to work stations on both the east and west coasts. They were from about 800 to 1500 miles away. On 17 meters I had good copy on a station in Spain on CW. He was about S4 on my S meter.

Unfortunately, I did not have my key with me so was not able to work that station. Since my initial tests I have made good solid contacts on 15,12, and 10 meters using the "Maple Leaf Mini". These bands were not open during initial testing. All tests were conducted using SSB at power levels of 50 to 100 watts.

NOTE All testing was done using an inexpensive MFJ 948 Versa Tuner. I can state for certain is that this design outperformed my expectations. It is a very good antenna and it receives well and transmits equally as well. I was amazed at the performance of this short antenna that was hung only 14 ft.

I have no doubts that if this antenna is hung up higher it will perform even better. Also, the SWR should go even lower when you raise the antenna height. One real advantage of this design is that it is 55 ft. Shorter than a G5RV Classic.

Shorter than the G5RV Classic, it still is capable of putting out a decent signal on all bands from 80 to 10 meters. If you don't have 102 ft.

To hang a G5RV Classic then perhaps you may have 46 ft. We build these antennas ourselves and take pride in our workmanship. We have built many, many antennas over the years with no problems at all.

The antenna wire is 14 gauge pure stranded copper that is quite flexible. The wire is double insulated and u. We have used this type of wire for many years and it holds up quite well. One of our antennas has been up over 20 years now and still no breaks in the insulation.

Even though insulated wire is more expensive, we use it because foliage will not detune the SWR on the insulated wire. The 300 Ohm matching section is only 17 feet long, and uses heavy foam insulation and is ultraviolet resistant. It will last for many, many, years. This matching section is very durable and also quite flexible. We use only silver plated PL-259 connectors. All connections are soldered and insulated with premium heat shrink for added strength. All connections are hermetically sealed to keep out the rain and snow. The antenna is extremely sturdy, but lightweight and portable.

The antenna wire and 300 ohm matching section are black for stealth. This antenna can be hung in a tree, put in your attic, hung on your eaves or many other configurations. It works just as well hung as an inverted vee as it does as a straight dipole.

As with any antenna, the higher you hang it, the better it will perform. The tuned feed line is 17 feet long and terminates in a PL-259 connector. From the end of the antenna you should run regular radio coax (50 Ohm) straight into your radio or tuner. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised with this antennas performance!! We construct all of our antennas right here in our own shop. That gives us complete control over our quality of our products. Every antenna is fully tested before it leaves our shop. Feedback left for us regarding the "MINI" antenna.

Perfect, just what I need so the neighbors won't complain. THE BEST communication so far on E-bay! GREAT ITEM - PERFECT SHIPPER - YOU HAVE A FRIEND IN GERMANY! Great service and great product.. No guarantee or liability is either expressed or implied pertaining to damages to either persons or equipment in the installation or use of our antennas.

You must use extreme caution when working around power lines. If the antenna were to come into contact with a voltage carrying line it could be fatal. I will help you in any way needed!! In addition, every antenna comes with a full set of easy to follow instructions, including--- "HINTS AND TIPS", and "DO'S AND DON'TS" --- to insure an easy and trouble-free installation!!!
