The Maple Leaf "QSO-KING" is an end fed, multiband, wire antenna that will cover all bands from 80 to 6 meters, including the WARC Bands, as well as 60 meters and MARS frequencies.

Balun design was tested and endorsed by the late Jerry Sevick, well know author, Electrical Engineer, and considered the formost authority on baluns and transmission line transformers. 100% water proof balun enclosure. It takes only moments to deploy the QSO-KING. Pull the wire end into a tree, hang it off the balcony, lay it on the roof, hook it to a pole, hook it to a building, etc. And you are on the air and making contacts.

Some HF ham bands can often be tuned by the tuner in your radio. NOTE: to tune all hf ham bands an external tuner will be required. One of the greatest things about this antenna design is that. Absolutely no ground connection is required for excellent performance.

I know what you are thinking, you must have a ground or counterpoise for an antenna to work. Well, I thought the same thing until I spend time in the field testing this design. We used it both with and without a ground and counterpoise and in both instances it worked great. I did however design a ground connection into the matching device just in case you want to add a ground or counterpoise.

The ground/counterpoise connection is accessed via the green wing nut on the side of the matching unit. Simply attach your wire to the ground connection and tighten the green wing nut. This antenna can be hung in many different configurations. It can be hung as a sloper, an inverted L, hung in a straight line, zig-zagged, vertical, horizontal, etc. Antenna polarization is determined by your installation. Vertical, horizontal, or both can be accomplished.

By requiring no ground connection this antenna is just about the easiest antenna to install that I have ever used. Simply connect your coax to the matching unit.

Attach the end of the antenna wire to a high support and you are ready to get on the air and make contacts. If you live in an apartment then this antenna will allow you to get on the air with little effort and no one will even know that you are on the air. This antenna can be deployed in a matter of seconds.

The antenna works best if the coax is at least 33 ft. Any coax length in excess of 33 ft. Will also work just fine. I do recommend using a choke balun or a line isolator to keep rf away from you and your equiptment. I sell good quality, but inexpensive, choke baluns and line isolators on E-Bay if you need one. The choke balun is E-bay item number 170660393454.

The line isolator is E-Bay item number 140964864072. I will include a set of installation instructions with each antenna order. Installing this antenna design is about as simple as it gets! I can state for certain is that this design outperformed my expectations. It is a very good antenna and it receives well and transmits equally as well.

We build these antennas ourselves and take pride in our workmanship. We have built many, many antennas over the years with no problems at all.

The antenna wire is 14 gauge pure stranded copper that is quite flexible. The wire is double insulated and u. We have used this type of wire for many years and it holds up quite well. One of our antennas has been up over 20 years now and still no breaks in the insulation. Even though insulated wire is more expensive, we use it because foliage will not detune the SWR on the insulated wire.

We construct all of our antennas right here in our own shop. That gives us complete control over our quality of our products.
