The QSO-KING is a good antenna choice for HOA, MARS, Field Day, base station use, etc. It also make a good portable antenna. The QSO - KING works equally well in a permanent installation or as a portable antenna for away-from-home operations such as Field Day, vacations, camping, back packing, etc. Its ease of installation makes it a very versatile antenna for many different operating scenarios. STEP#1 --- Attach the antenna wire that came with the antenna to the post with the red wing nut on the matching unit. Step#2 --- Attach one end of your coaxial cable to the special matching unit. Step#3 --- Run the other end of your coax to either a choke balun, your antenna tuner, or your radio.
Step#4 --- Attach the end of the antenna wire with the insulator to a high support. You are ready to start making contacts. NOTE --- Hanging the antenna at least 20 ft. High will yield good performance.
Higher almost always works better. NOTE- for best performance, keep your antenna wire away from other metallic objects as much as is possible.
Never hang your antenna above or below power lines. If one of them fell it could lead to a fatal electrocution. Even though no grounding is required on the QSO - KING , I did incorporate a ground connection into the matching unit design. The ground connection is the one with the green wing nut.
Field testing has revealed that the antenna works well with or without a ground attached. The ground connection is there so you can experiment with grounding and/or counterpoise if you so desire.
The QSO - KING can be installed in many different configurations. It can be installed as a sloper, a vertical, an inverted vee, an inverted L, a straight line, zigzagged, etc. Probably one of the easiest installations is to simply attach the antenna to a tree or other tall object.
Keep the lowest end of the antenna at least 6 ft. Up off of the ground. My name is Bruce Beckett and my ham radio call is NU0R. I have been a Ham Radio operator for 40 years now.
I enjoy operating the radios, but I also really like helping others to enjoy our wonderful hobby. I have a nice big shop and enjoy building antennas for Hams all over the world. We currently have antenna customers in 60 countries and on every continent. In addition, we also have customers in each of the 50 United States. Maple Leaf Studio is a "labor of love".Our customers are #1 to us and we work very hard to earn their respect. Our motto: Treat others exactly the way that you want to be treated. We work daily to live up to that motto! We encourage you to "check us out" to see who we are. Please check our feedback to see how we take care of our customers. We can sell cheaper in many cases because we don't have a huge overhead. It is just me and my wife of 47 years, Ruth. We are underpaid but happy LOL!!! Oh yes, Memphis, the shop kitty is in charge of the entire operation. She "ALLOWS" us to work in the shop! There are "NO" dumb questions.
If you aren't happy, then we're not happy --- 100% satisfaction guarantee. No guarantee or liability is either expressed or implied pertaining to damages to either persons or equipment in the installation or use of our antennas. You must use extreme caution when working around power lines. If the antenna were to come into contact with a voltage carrying line it could be fatal.
